Domaine Mussy Pommard Epenots

May 28, 2019

Domaine Mussy estate farms 6 hectares and about two thirds are Premier Cru vineyards. This 1990 is a Premier Cru from the appellation of Pommard Epenots.

As we can see in this image, the wine is showing it age with fading along its edges and having a brilliant brickish color.

This 1990 Domaine Mussy Pommard Epenots Premier Crus is perfumey on the nose. There are mushrooms, strawberry and other red fruits and a tinge of a minty note. On the palate there is strawberry jammyness, earthyness and dried fruits. On the finish we notice some gently melting tannins in its short finish.

Drinking well now.

2016 Vintage Bordeaux from the Union Des Grands Crus Bordeaux

January 24, 2019

2016 Vintage Union Des Grands Crus Bordeaux WelcomeOn January 21, 2019 the weather may have been in single digits in New York City but in a room full of 2016 vintage Bordeaux wines, it was hot.

Members of the Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux brought sample bottles of the 2016 vintage to share a taste. Over 130 Chateaus were present with over140 wines to taste from.

However there is a disappointment for those wines that are Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. It was not the best year for the growth of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Quality grapes were reduced and resulting in less Cabernet Sauvignon being found in many of the blends. Merlot and Cabernet Franc came to the aid of the blends.

Favorite Wine IS coming next.

2015 Grands Crus Classes of Saint Emilion

The 2015 vintage for St Emilion is a good vintage.

2015 may have had one of the warmest summers but the warmer weather produced slightly riper fruits with the cooler nights giving the right balance of acidity and smooth tannins. There was floral freshness of the lush fruit with smooth tannins with the right amount of acidity in all these delicious wines.

Espirit Gassier Rose Wine

Here is a wine that is as elegant as its label. The label is designed by a 2015 Espirit Gassier Rose Cotes De Provencelocal artist and is silk screened onto the bottle. The very pale salmon color makes a pretty glass of rose and compliments the labels design.

2015 Espirit Gassier Rosé

The wine is a blend of 35% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 25% Syrah, and 10% Rolle. The wine has a very pale salmon color. There are aromas white peaches, cherries and salted minty herbs. On the palate the wine has a medium body and is nicely rounded giving it elegance. On the finish you can feel some of its biting acidity with its delicate herbal ,strawberry and cherry notes. Delicious.
